About Marietjie Du Toit

Marietjie Du Toit

My life is a canvas on which I daily paint, working towards a beautiful painting. My inspiration comes from the beauty of life and the creation of God. I started painting when I was eleven years old. I did not receive any formal training, but have studied many books and artists' work that I admire. Through trial and error I have developed my own unique style. Although I have used other mediums in the past, I most love to work with oil. The texture, the feel and the smell! I most often paint wet on wet, doing the first coats with brush and finishing off with the palette knife. A few years ago I have joined an oil painting class, which is very inspiring and a lot of fun.
